This series was created at Javel’s place while trying out her new studio one rather inebriated night. It’s a totally improvised shoot and above all, an experimentation minus all the pretense. It’s reluctant and timid but that’s how I am. I often have a hard time unleashing some aspects of my personality which are lost under a social mask that is sometimes too inhibiting. I took inspiration from some of Marianne Faithfull’s photos, like this one. This shoot does not intend to shock people, it is obviously about a persona but the question is, do personas become an extension of one’s personality?
Glorious nights deal with the concept of suppressed force and erotic fragility; it’s the body that abandons all restraint. Far from sensual bliss, these images are cold and almost apathetic, like the expression of an embittered soul that unravels itself on long and dreamless nights.
